A Family Christmas Tradition.. The Elf On The Shelf
One of our site visitors wrote to me about this fun family Christmas tradition and of course, I have to share it with everyone. It is such a cute idea for your little ones and I am amazed I had never heard of it before. You learn new things everyday! This tradition is called The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition . The set comes with a book and an adorable little elf. The story is about the elf and how he watches over the children all day and then visits the North Pole each night to report to Santa on their activities. When he returns to house each morning, he finds a new perch (with the help of Mom or Dad) from which he can watch over the family. So every morning the kids then search for his new spot! The Elf is just adorable and the story is cute as can be. You can even name your elf and register him with the North Pole Hall of Registry. You then get an official adoption certificate that you can print from your computer. I only wish I had known about this Christmas tradition when my kids were small.. but you know The Elf will be waiting for my grandchildren whenever they arrive! So start your own Elf On The Shelf family tradition!
One of our visitors emailed with a spin their family uses for The Elf on the Shelf. The elf visits each Sunday during the four weeks from Thanksgiving to Christmas, replicating the Christian Advent season. Their somewhat mischievious elf (ie - Mom or Dad) wreaks some havoc in the room in which he is hiding.place. Newspaper on the floor, lampshade tilted, knick-knacks upside down.. you get the idea. Their kids run from room to room to see where he has been and know he will be hiding where things are askew. When they find him, he has a weekly report on their activities that he gave to Santa along with Santa's reply!
