Fun and Funny Halloween Costume Ideas
Halloween Costume Ideas... always a challenge for this mom of four! It seemed every year I become the "Halloween Costume Mom".. helping the four and their friends to come up with their group costume idea and then figure out how to pull it all together!! Here are some of our family favorites.
 Custom Search Cutey Care BearsHere was a fun and easy group costume from my high school daughter and her friends.. The Care Bears. Colored t-shirts, peel and stick felt, matching colored soccer socks, white gym shorts, iron out letters and we were good to go. Cut out the Care Bear's theme emblem and stick it on the shirt and a heart to go on the shorts. Iron on "Care Bear" to the rear of the shorts. Pigtails rolled up and pinned to make the ears. Red noses and these cuties were good to go!
Derby Dolls
What a fun and easy costume.. dress up for the Kentucky Derby.. throw on a sundress.. make a big hat and you are good to go. Here's how to make your own hat!. The bigger and more decorated.. the better! 
The Kentucky Derby theme is a great couples costume idea too. Have your date throw on a linen suit which you can probably find at a used clothing or Salvation Army shop.. add a hat and perhaps a walking stick for him and you are both "duded up for the Derby"!
Party On Wayne!!My college daughter came calling with the quest for her costume.. and we came up with Wayne and Garth. She and her roommate happened to fit the roles perfectly. Once they had the idea.. they were on their own. Teased out their hair and used a bottle of hair spray. They made their own "Party On" t-shirts. They bought cheap sunglasses and popped out the lenses, and of course, the blow up guitar and drum sticks. Thrown on a flannel and some jeans and they were ready to "Party On". Another fun and easy Halloween costume idea.
Diner DivasMost every town has their own favorite greasy spoon and we are no different. Ours was a diner and frequented by everyone in town and all the kids. So one Halloween our son and his friends decided to dress as the cast at the dinner..complete with the diner t-shirts, black skirts and aprons. They were hysterical! They won the "Best Costume" trophy at the junior high school that year. This is the same crew who as nine year olds won the elementary school prize asUS Women's Olympic Gymnastic Team. Here are the Diner Divas and the cook! Lovely LadybugsMy oldest daughter and her friends did a group costume one year based on the movie "Ladybugs". The movie is one of those oldies but goodies about a girls soccer team,"The Ladybugs" and a boy who dresses as a girl to join the team. Guess the guy who was part of this group costume missed the photo op... but these ladybugs sure looked great in their costumes. Look at how easy it was to put together.. a soccer shirt and they add the Ladybug logo, soccer shorts, cute striped socks and some red ribbons.. they were set to go. Even though the movie is dated, this would be a cute group costume regardless.
Scouting Out Halloween FunMy son in college and his girlfriend came up with a cute and easy Halloween costume idea. They recycled the Scout uniforms that I had boxed up in the attic. Why would I still have these after all those year?? Who knows.. think I save anything with Halloween costume potential! Here they are!
Famous Girls Gone BadThis is my oldest daughter and her friends who are all well out of college, but still not too old for a good Halloween costume. Their choice?? Famous stars and singers who have found themselves in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. I will say, they did a good job as even I could identify these "girls gone bad".
Granny and Pop PopThis was my daughter and her best friend in second grade. They were insistent on being something together and something that "no one will be". In going through the box in the attic we found the masks and this costume took on a life of its own. They were a scream!! What they loved best was that during the parade no one knew who they were. Oh to be 8 and get joy from the smallest of feats!It was a fun, easy and creative Halloween costume idea.
