These handmade Valentine greeting cards are so creative, easy and fun and they LIGHT UP! Using a single tealight can create a Valentine day card that is so special and especially fun for the kids to make and give. This Valentines day craft for kids is a perfect way to spend a quiet afternoon and we have included the free printable tag! So take a look at our step by step instruction below, gather the simple materials and have fun making this creative Valentine heart! Thanks to Aunt Janet for her ideas for this craft!!
How to assemble these creative handmade Valentine greeting cards
1. We took the red foam heart and using spray adhesive or glue, attach the foam heart centered on top of the white heart doille. sing the spray adhesive, lay the glittered foam heart on top of a paper heart doille.
2. Let dry and then find the spot you want to insert the tealight, it can be centered or off-centered, your choice! Next comes the part you need to do, NOT THE KIDS. Using something sharp and thin,( we used a metal pin from the kitchen that holds the turkey together at Thanksgiving), poke a hole through the doiley and the foam heart to get a hole started for the tealight to insert in. Since the foam and paper are thin, the hole doesn't have to be big. You will be able to push the tip of tealight right through. Ours held the tealight without glue, but you may want to add a few drops of glue to the top surface of the light so it adheres firmly to the back of the doiley/heart shape.
4. Using the small foam self stick heart stickers to decorate your pretty handmade Valentine greeting cards. We found these cute ones that had a push out so we could put them right around where the tealight pops through the cover the hole!
5. Add a bow from tulle or ribbon to the top and the Valentine, you LIGHT UP my day tag to the bottom.
