Post Wedding Brunch.. to have or have not?

wedding brunch idea

A post wedding brunch for family and out of town guests is not a must but has become a customary tradition as part of the wedding plans. We wanted to gather our out of town guests but elected to pass on the traditional morning after breakfast. Instead see what we came up with... a great idea for an alternative to the morning after the wedding brunch

"Clang, clang, clang goes the trolley.." We skipped the post wedding brunch idea for our daughter's Chicago wedding. My opinion is that most people are tired the morning after the wedding and most hotels offer a breakfast/brunch with the hotel room. Plus we wanted to give our guests a chance to explore Chicago that day, so we planned something different.. a trolley ride around Chicago the evening after the wedding. If you can believe it, it turned out to be more economical than a formal brunch too! Here are the cute trolley ride invitations we made at home on the computer!

How we planned this alternative to a post wedding brunch!

We decided the newly married couple needed matching t-shirts celebrating their new status, so we made them ourselves. We just used iron on lettering from the local craft store .. easy as could be. The trolley ride was perfect for all age groups.. we had ages 1 to 89 and all enjoyed it. We planned the route to give all a chance to see other parts of Chicago aside from the downtown area where they were staying. You know how our family loves party favors, so we had Chicago sippy cups made for all the guests! The trolley can be a bit everyone had these cups, along with covers and straws.. no spills for this group! I worked with Rich at to get these done and they were so reasonable. He also did our Wedding Gift Bags for Out of Town guests.

What's a trip to Chicago without a stop at Wrigley Field, home to the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Our last stop was Navy Pier for their summertime fireworks display and then back to the hotel. It was a special evening filled with fun, friends and family - no better way to conclude our wedding weekend!
