Having wedding welcome bags waiting for your guests in their hotel rooms is such a special way to greet them and let them know you are happy they have made the trip to your wedding! They are just that little extra that shows how much you appreciate their being there! We just finished our 3rd wedding and the wedding gift bags for our traveling guests were waiting for them upon check in at the hotel. Here they are adorning our house before we brought them to the hotel. Making them for your own wedding? We're happy to share how we made ours!
We looked and looked for just the right gift bags. We wanted something sturdy but pretty and found these great ones on Papermart.com Look at all the colors and patterns available and they come in 3 sizes too. They are not paper but a premium fabric texture recyclable plastic. Plus they have a reinforced base so the large size could actually hold several water bottles plus all the other goodies you want to fill them with. In addition, we loved the bow on the front and that the gift bags had a snap closure so we didn't have to worry about things falling out. Basically, you just open the bags, fill with your ingredients and snap it closed. We had over 50 of these and not a single one tore or ripped!
Once we found the bags we were going to make gift tags for them but in looking around we found that VistaPrint is always running these great deals on business cards 250 for $10 and free shipping. Plus they have great wedding templates. We found this one and easily added the text to make it into a gift tag! Couldn't have been any easier. Then we attached the balance of the cards to the backs of all the programs. Talk about multi-purpose!
Here's what we filled our wedding welcome bags for our out of towns guests
1. Bottled water.. more on the cute labels further down
2. Chips and Snacks
3. Candy and Cookies
4. Breakfast bars and fruit snacks
5. Note outlining wedding weekend itinerary with times and venues. Directions to venue. Local Cab Company name and phone. Train information with schedule into New York City. List of local sites to visit. Information on nearest Drug store, Dunkin Donuts, Starbuck and Diner!
6. For guests with children we made special "Keep Busy" Welcome bags filled with crayons, coloring books, stickers and easy crafts!
7. Add a pop of color by putting colored tissue paper in the bag as a final ingredient before you snap it closed!
These were the splurge for our wedding gift bags for our out of town guests. They ran about .75 cents a bottle all in but they were just too cute to pass up.. Notice the ingredient box on the label that you can personalize. The quality of these were great and we had no problem wrapping them around the dozens of water bottles. We would recommend you order the labels with the "self adhesive" feature like we did. You just peel off the strip, wrap and stick! So much easier than taping each label!
